What's new on Renault’s motor show stand? The French maker’s star was its sleek new Megane Coupe Concept. A typical concept with novel split gullwing doors (dubbed dragonfly doors by the designers), seats that look like they’re straight from Ikea and cameras instead of door mirrors, its profile and design cues preview a forthcoming production model.

Not one to miss out on a party, Ford gatecrashed the French brands’ electric carfest at the 2009 Frankfurt motor show. The new Focus BEV (battery electric vechicle) is a working prototype and not bound for production – yet, although that is the longer term intention. A demo programme starts with 15 cars hitting UK roads in 2010.
The A-Class concept from Mercedes-Benz is set to make its debut at both the Shanghai and New York auto shows later this month. A distinctively aggressive development over the outgoing model, the A-Class concept is said to draw on the 'defined edges and free interplay of surfaces' first demonstrated with the F800 Style. The taught muscularity of other Mercedes models is also translated onto the show car.
